Zimbabwe Youth Festival 2012 is a mobile festival reaching out to 15 districts in 8 provinces (Harare, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Masvingo, Matebeleland South, Bulawayo and Midlands). The festival will reach out to remote townships, centres, schools, clinics, dip tanks, churches and such like places where regular media and mainstream activists/advocacy organisations barely reach. The festival will camp in each target community for a week (5 working days) where the festival team will do a variety of activities that include film screenings, youth seminars, voluntary work and the actual festival.

Despite being a large component of the population in Zimbabwe, young people remain on the fringe of the society. They need hope, they need information, solidarity and a strong sense of belonging which the current environment doesn't offer them. We believe that reaching out to and engaging young people in various communities will open doors for them to fully participate in their communities through social action, advocacy and volunteerism, thus promoting creative, positive, and deeply rooted social transformation
