The Nyungwe rainforest is located in southwestern Rwanda, at the border with Burundi, to the south, and Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west

With an altitude that varies from 1,600m to 2,950m, Nyungwe is composed of various rain forests leading to a number of waterfalls and viewing points. Nyungwe is renowned for its affluent diversity of flora and fauna. Up to 200 tree species cohabit with 13 species of primate, including chimpanzees.
