South Africa's longest running film festival, the Durban International Film Festival takes place from July to August each year and presents over 200 screenings of films from around the world, with a focus on films from South Africa and Africa. There is a festival competition and the festival accepts entries from films produced in the last two years. Screenings take place throughout Durban including township areas where cinemas are non-existent.
The festival also offers an extensive seminar and workshop programme featuring local and international filmmakers, and the very successful Talent Campus Durban.
