Scottnes was born in Johannesburg to parents, Trevor and Gail Smith. The second oldest of four children, Scottnes decided on a career in the film industry during his final year of high school when he'borrowed' the family Hyundai to make his first project, "Childhood". Scottnes trained as a director and actor at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg as well as AFDA the South African Schol of Motion Picture and the University of Arcada, Helsinki.
BIOGRAPHY -Scottnes L. Smith
Award winning producer and director, Scottnes L. Smith received an Honours degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2008, in Dramatic Arts, majoring in Film and Television Production. He was the line producer and actor in Long Street, a feature length film shot in Cape Town in 2008 and due for cinema release in 2010. Directed and produced a number of award winning short films, most notably of which are The Verge and Passage, the multiple award winning Wits University short films. He has also directed a number of award winning commercials, music videos, documentaries and PSA's. Finalist in the 2005 Multichoice Vuka! Awards for his PSA "Donor Man". Finalist in the SAB "Kickstart" Competition for Small Businesses.
