OLGA INDIGO is an African queen, her parents descent from the ancient royal lineage of the DAHOMEY Empire (Benin). Abomey is the epicentre of the Danhomet and also where Olga?s grand mother Louise GBEHANZIN created the King?s fabrics and clothes of the Princes and Amazons warriors (unit of elite women warriors). The people of Danhomet first used the unique fabrics during the ORO feast (Yoruba cult), celebrated by the King and Queens of former days inside the Palace of Danhomet (1628 a.c).
It was at the age of five that Olga Indigo was initiated to that art of colours. Marie Rose Lima, her mother taught her how to awaken nature?s colours of Benin, flowers of INDIGO, the cola nut, Baobab Jus, Teck leaves, residus of honey and Shea-tree butter. At only fourteen years old Olga learns sewing for man and women. Later on she dedicates her life to her works of art on Royal fabrics called AHO.
OLGA INDIGO is a lively woman who loves life and people. She paints with more than passion and creativity; it is a mystical aura that emanates from her work and her soul. Her works are her happiness. Her paintings embody the stars, the sky, the Earth, the Sun and the Moon. They carry joy, feast, and love in it?s every form.
