Lasisi travelled to Rabaul High School from his home in Lossu, New Ireland and then onto Sogeri High School before starting work at the Creative Arts Centre in 1975.  His first exhibition was held at the National Art School in 1975 where he demonstrated his talent for words as well as visual art, launching his book Searching.  He was also a keen participant in the National Theatre Company.

His talent was recognised in Lasisi being awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in America on completion of his studies at the National Art School in 1979. 

He returned to his home in New ireland at the end of his American studies where he turned to politics.
