Bouchra Khalili, 1975 in Casablanca geboren, studierte Filmwissenschaften an der Universität Sorbonne Nouvelle und Kunst an der Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Cergy bei Paris. Ihre Arbeiten stehen unter dem Zeichen der geographischen und mentalen Verschiebung, und nähren sich aus einem territorialen und plastischen Nomadentum, das die Grenzen zwischen Kino und bildender Kunst, Spiel- und Dokumentarfilm, Essai und Experiment zu durchbrechen sucht. Bouchra Khalilis Videos wurden auf zahlreichen Ausstellungen, Biennalen und Festivals gezeigt: im Lincoln Center in New York (NY Video Festival), im CCCB und Caixa Forum of Art (Barcelona), im MACRO und der Villa Médicis (Rom), auf der Biennale of the Moving Image (Genf) und La Force de l'Art (Galerie Nationale du Grand Palais, Paris). 2006 wurden ihr mehrere monographische Sonderprogramme gewidmet, insbesondere in Brasilien. Neben ihrer künstlerischen Tätigkeit ist Bouchra Khalili als Autorin für Filmmagazine und Ausstellungskataloge aktiv und konzipiert Filmprogramme im Rahmen der Cinémathèque von Tanger.

She studied cinema at the Sorbonne Nouvelle and Fine Arts at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Paris-Cergy. With a strong focus on the Mediterranean region as an imaginary territory, her videos deal with nomadism and displacement. Her work borders cinema and visual arts, documentary and fiction; she experiments with the visual and conceptual limits of these media. Her work has been shown at numerous international exhibitions, biennials, and festivals, including the New York Video Festival (Lincoln Center), at CCCB and Caixa Forum of Art (Barcelona), at MACRO and Villa Médicis (Rome), The Biennale of The Moving Image (Geneva), La Force de l'Art (Galerie Nationale du Grand Palais, Paris). In 2006, several programs focused on her work were curated, especially in Brazil. Bouchra Khalili is also a contributor to film magazines and catalogues, and the co-programmer of the Cinémathèque de Tanger.
