Ben Kiruthi is an exclusive international and destination wedding photographer based in Nairobi. He has a background in computer engineering with a degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) that he finished in 2008 and went on to do a M.B.A in Entrepreneurship in 2010.
In 2010 he was working at Orange Telecom and enjoyed taking pictures with his phone. One of his photographer friends asked him if he had ever thought of making a living out of photography. So he decided to learn through Youtube where he would watch tutorials and then enact them.
He bought his first camera in April 2010 and began shooting runways events and model portfolios.
Starting out, he was searching for something that he would fall in love with. When he did his first wedding shoot, he immediately knew that was his calling. He realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life taking pictures of people who were in love.
"Weddings are not staged. It's all about capturing moments. Being able to catch real moments and make them last for eternity through pictures made me so excited. I had found my passion."
He works with his wife, Gathoni Kiruthi who is also a photographer.
