Alsény Solo Cherif starts his career in the ballet school of Conakry le ballet étudiant de Conakry. In 1980, he started with the national theatre for children directed by the wife of President Sékou Touré. His energetic style, motivated and his originality meant he was selected in 1985 into Conakry’s ballet under the direction of Sekouba Camara called Wasterio with whom he participated in the national tour organised by the Guinean government.
When he was 20, Alseny Solo Cherif was the first djembe soloist of the band Tempo Rythmique. He plays on stage with the traditionnal ensemble Mandeng Gnakha.
In 1989, invited in Paris, they represent Guinea, at the occasion of the French Revolution bicentanary, under the direction of Jean-Paul Goude.
In 1990, Tempo Rythmique becomes Wassa.
A first album is recorded, followed by a world Tour.
In 1992, Africa Oye : Japan, Australia, UK, USA.
In 1994 Wassa becomes Wofa. The international tours and the recording of two albums between 1994 and 1997 crowned the artists’success. Between his international tours, Alseny 'Solo' accompanies different international artists in Guinea, like Salif Keita, Rey Lema, Fode Kouyate, Sekouba Kandia Kouyate.
In 1997 , he settled in France where he founded the band Djembé. Recognised as an African great master, he is one of the greatest Guinean drummers.
Alseny Solo Cherif accompanies his wife N'Mah Aminata Chérif on her workshops and courses. He is well appreciated by the "Guinées Faré" or women dances because he excels in marquing the steps.
Member of the band Folifö in which most of the artists are settled in Guinea played in Marciac in 2008 and contributed to the pedagogic program of the town with young college musicians.
Automn 2006 : Creation of the association Wiombere
Spring 2007, he recorded his album « Etat de siège » in Kagbelen, at 50 km from Conakry.
Automn 2008: Creation of La Cie Des Sorciers.

He is well appreciated by the "Guinées Faré" or women dances because he excels in marquing the steps.
Member of the band Folifö in which most of the artists are settled in Guinea played in Marciac in 2008 and contributed to the pedagogic program of the town with young college musicians. A project filmed directed by Laurent Chevallier in France and Guinea, shows the real exchange between Folifo artists and college studients
( African Experience).

In 2009, he contributed to the pedagogic project « Musiteranée » in Graulhet with the artist called Yaki.

Autumn 2010: He creates an Afro jazz band (Saxo, drum, balafon, djembe, kryin, gongoma, calebasse, guitar solo)
