Wassakara Productions (Côte d'Ivoire)
PRODUCTION
Wassakara Productions was founded following the 2002 social and political crisis in Côte d'Ivoire, in an attempt to give voices other than those of media outlets a chance to be heard. Today, the company's goal is to support young West African directors and help produce cinematographic portrayals of contemporary Africa. Wassakara Productions has produced Burn It Up Djassa by Lonesome Solo (which screened at the Berlinale and Toronto festivals) and Run by Philippe Lacôte (selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes).
