Rina Sherman
I am a filmmaker ethnographer, trained in the Direct Cinema tradition by the French ethnographic filmmaker Jean Rouch. For seven years, I lived with an Omuhimba community in Namibia and Angola. During this time, I filmed and photographed their every day and ritual lives.

To mark the gift of my multimedia archive into their collections, the French National Library - François Mitterrand will hold a multimedia exhibition in Paris in the fall 2015.

This book will mark a milestone event:

In fact, it will mark the safeguarding of this totally unique multimedia collection by the French National Library and an exhibition that will showcase the highlights of the collection; the result of many years of work that started as early as 1996.

Participate in the publication of this book

It has always been an ideal for me to share my images of Ovahimba culture with the public at large. During my seven years of life and work with the Ovahimba, I nurtured the idea of publishing a book featuring the most salient moments of our life together.

Publishing a quality photographic book is an expensive and risky step in the process of making my work available to the public. Our research shows it will cost, promotion included, 15000€ / 16,800US$ to produce a print run of 2000 quality photographic books, a minimum to make the time and effort invested worthwhile in the mid to long term.
