A year after the tragic incidents that took place in September 2005 near the Ceuta and Melilla enclaves, young Africans testify to their failed efforts to reach Eldorado Europe. Horribly violent, sordid and savage, these poignant testimonies are difficult to watch. They are supplemented by the comments of civil society actors speaking at the 2006 Bamako Social Forum. The speakers denounce the criminalization of immigration and the working conditions of the migrants who are vital to Western society's wellbeing. Their observations throw a helpful light on the historic, economic and social factors that made such migration inevitable.
