Coming after "Diary" and "The White Castle", this is the third and final film in the "North-South" series. Again an exploration of the relationship between rich and poor countries, "The New Ice Age" draws a parallel between the living conditions of Peruvians in the outskirts of Lima who are trying to set up a democratic socialist system of self-governement, on the one hand, and, on the other, the situation of four young workers in an ice-cream factory in the North of Holland, who live in social isolation.
