We review the extraordinary life of Anne Spoerry who was active in the French Resistance before being deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1943. She later became Mama Daktari, the woman who launched the "Flying Doctors" program, breaking new ground with this first non-governmental organisation in East Africa. At the age of 80, Anne still pilots her plane each week to visit, take care of and help the deprived bear the burden of their existence.
With this film, she takes us on a journey into a truly exceptional setting - Kenya - to experience 50 years of an adventurous life and revive the emotions that, many years ago, made her declare : "this will be my home".
Just five months after shooting, Doctor Anne Spoerry passed away on February 2, 1999 on her return from a mission.
