A beautifully staged historical romance set in the Karoo in 1913, Land Of Thirst centres on Margaret (Nina Lucy Wylde) who has left England to find a cure for her tuberculosis in the Karoo's dry air. She meets Xhosa chief Khanyiso (Hlomla Dandala) who has been in exile since the execution of his father and is returning from England to seek his African roots.
A romance sparks, but can they keep their love alive in such a hostile world? Still relevant today, Land Of Thirst is not a film about race, but about two people challenging a deeply divided society in their search for wholeness. Based on Perceval Gibbon's novel Margaret Harding.
