Djamila the Algerian (جميلة, Djamilah) is an Egyptian historical film about one of the most important figures in Algerian history. Directed by Youssef Chahine and written by Abd al-Rahman, Ali al-Zarqani and Naguib Mahfouz, it was released in 1958. This film is not only considered to highlight the story of an important revolutionary woman, but also to show the struggle of the Algerian people against the French occupation.

It portrays the Algerian resistance fighter and fighter Djamila Bouhired.

Djamila the Algerian is the first and only audiovisual narrative to focus solely on the role of Algerian women in the Algerian War. The film was released only one year after the torture and arrest of Djamila Bouhired. Chahine's first explicitly political film, it succeeded in galvanizing broad solidarity with the Algerian resistance throughout the Arab world, starting with Egypt. Djamila the Algerian is among the Top 100 films in the history of Egyptian cinema.
