Tumbuna is the Tok Pisin (local language) word for ancestors. The Tumbuna Festival is a grand celebration of culture and tradition held annually in the beautiful Paiyagona Valley, a 45 minute drive from Mount Hagen. Discover the local traditions with a colorful extravaganza of traditional dress, dancing and singing by local tribes. The show is attended by over 300 tribesmen and women from more than 15 different tribes in the highlands and coastal areas of the mainland. The unique opportunity to witness, the ways of the local people as well as meet tribal elders and hear their stories of the taim bilong timbuna, the time of the ancestors.
