The Warwagira & Mask Festival is a national annual event in Papua New Guinea since 1995. It aims to promote the cultural expression of people from Papua New Guinea, especially of the Bismarck archipelago and some areas of the main land. The masks express so many things to initiated people and impress others, with different levels of understanding. They take place in a ritual performance, with a particular meaning in chosen circumstances. To make a mask, people combine many materials, knowledges and energy. During the Festival, cultural dancing, ritual performance, story-telling and exchange take place. Also, many arts and crafts and traditional masks will be displayed.
