Through keynote addresses, paper presentations and music performances the Symposium cultivates the culture of an intellectual and artistic dialogue.

The Symposium this year will include research papers and music performances by Tanzania scholars/musicians, as well as scholars/musicians from other parts of Africa and the world. The countries represented will include Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Nigeria, Germany, the United States, Norway, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and Spain. The Keynote Lecture will be presented by Prof. Meki Nzewi, University of Pretoria. Other prominent presenters will include Prof. Gerhard Kubik and the Donald Kachamba Kwela Heritage Band from Malawi and Prof. Polo Vallejo from Spain.
