Homosexuality in Africa is often considered a foreign practice imported from Europe and unknown to local cultures. Yet, everywhere opinions are changing, and people are organizing. This special issue gives activists an opportunity to present their work, describe their lives and denounce injustice. Political refugees talk about their journey and describe the homophobia at a personal and family level. Academics present sociological analyses and showcase the litterary and artistic expressions that are fundamental to change.
