Dr. Swithin Wilmot is Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, and Senior Lecturer in History. His main area of research interest is post-emancipation politics and society in Jamaica. He has contributed several book chapters and his articles have appeared in Caribbean Quarterly,Journal of Caribbean History and Jamaica Journal. He is also the co-editor ofPlantation Economy, Land Reform and the Peasantry in Historical Perspective: Jamaica 1838-1980,(Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, 1992), and co-editor of Before and After 1865: Education, Politics and Regionalism in the Caribbean, (Ian Randle Publishers, 1998). Dr. Wilmot has also been the recipient of several awards and fellowships including a Fulbright Fellowship and a Mona Principal's Award for Best Publication (Article) in the Faculty of Humanities and Education.
