Ben Agbee, born in 1966 in Ghana, is one of the most successful of Ghanaian artists, who has over the years carved a niche for himself with extremely evocative works. Ben majored in art, graduating in 1989 and worked for four years in advertising and design before starting to paint and discovering his talent that is markedly original and vigorous. His accrylic paintings are vibrant and earthy color, mainly of women in attractive clothing and incorporate unusual shapes. His works, with all kinds of figures, images and symbols, border on abstracts, impressionism landscapes and realism, which lead to a myriad of interpretations. Since his first exhibition at the loom gallery in Accra, Ben has displayed his works in Ghana, Europe, Canada the United States and New Zealand.
