BIOGRAPHY by Mohamed El Bayoumi Mohamed Bayoumi is the first pioneer of Egyptian cinema as he issued the first newsreel in Egypt, made a self-made camera and established the first cinema institute. He was also the first Egyptian to establish a studio. Sadly enough, this towering figure died in dire poverty without receiving any recognition. Mohamed Bayoumi was born on 3 January 1894 to a family of cotton merchants in Tanta, a city that lies in the middle of the Egyptian Delta.
