Descendant of a French family that settled in Porto-Novo during the colonial period, Josephine Rey lives and watches over the house built by her grandfather, the Villa Reynette, with its Afro-Brazilian architecture but completely dilapidated. Convinced that it is her body heat that keeps the walls of this house standing, she fervently prays to the Virgin Mary for good will to help her renovate her heritage.
