Tata Amaral, born in São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the most talented and award-winning filmmakers in the recent history of Brazilian cinematography.
Her feature-length films have won more than 60 awards at national and international film festivals.
Her most recent feature film, Antônia, served as inspiration for the homonymous TV series exhibited by Globo TV in 2006 with record-winning audiences for the time slot and indicated for the EMMY AWARD in 2007.
Her first feature film, Um Céu de Estrelas (1997), was considered by critics to be a mark in Brazilian cinematography, and elected one of the three most important national productions this last decade.
She has both directed and produced her most recent films.
