Bado was born Mohamed Said Ngana, in the coastal town of Watamu, on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya.
Bado hails from a musical family whose history is deeply entrenched in Mijikenda culture. His family has been singing and performing Mijikenda dance and music for generations. His father is the legendary mwanzele singer, performer and composer, Mzee Nyerere wa Konde.
