Senegalese Journalist, Film Director and Film Producer. Katy Lena Ndiaye is a child of the sixties. She was born in Dakar, Senegal, in 1968, raised in Paris and moved later to Brussels where she studied and obtained a master's degree in journalism at the Institute for Higher Social Communication Studies (IHECS). After her graduation, Katy Lena worked as an independent journalist mainly for cultural issues. In 2000 she started to host a TV magazine "Reflets Sud" on TV5, before going behind the camera as a filmmaker. Her films were shown to great critical acclaim and won awards in several International film festivals. They also have been broadcast on ARTE, TV5, Canal+, as well as YLE (Swedish Broadcasting Network) among others. Furthermore, Katy Lena founded Indigo Mood Films in 2013, a production company based in Dakar, which supports the audio-visual or cinematographic creations, and all forms of artistic expression. In 2005, after having studied, Katy Lena directed her first documentary Traces, Women's Imprints. The film received international acclaim. In 2007, she directed her second documentary Awaiting for Men, which was screened at more than 30 festivals around the world and received numerous international awards. She also works as a journalist for RTLinfo and for programs, such as Franc Parler on TV5 Afrique. She is currently creating two new projects with Neon Rouge Production; a short fiction called EntrElle, as well as a documentary called Women Viva Word Cup (in co-direction with Catherine Locandro).
