Hicham AYOUCH (هشام عيوش) is a former Journalist, a Director of photography, Film Director, Screenwriter and Producer.
He is known for "Fissures" (2009), "Fièvres" (2013),, "Abdelinho" (2022).
Born in Paris (France), in 1976, to a French Jew mother and Moroccan Muslim father, Hicham Ayouch - director, screenwriter, producer and former journalist - is one of the most promising cinematic voices to come out of Morocco in recent years.
Hicham Ayouch began his career as a journalist, working for France 3, Canal+ and TF1 between 1999 and 2004, before focusing his efforts on filmmaking and leaving France to live in Morocco.. In 2005, he shot "Les Reines du Roi - The King's Queens", a documentaryabout the status of women in Moroccan society. This was followed in 2007 by a second documentary - "Poussières d'ange - Angel's Dust" (2007), a look at mentally disabled sportsmen and women.
He directed fiction features: "Heart Edges" (2006), about a fishing village shattered by tragedy, and "Fissures" (2009), a love triangle among misfits in Tangiers. "Fevers / Fièvres" (2014) and "Abdelinho" (2022) the fourth feature fiction.
With "Fissures" (2009), his debut feature-length fiction film, Ayouch gained international recognition. In 2012, he made the short film "As They Say" for the Sharjah Biennial. "Fevers" (2012), his second feature, won several awards at major festivals, among them the Étalon d'or de Yennenga at FESPACO.
With his Film Production Company "Président Productions" (Morocco), he has produced "Fissures", "Fevers" and "Abdelinho".
