Sylvia N. Gichia is the Director of Kuona Trust, center for Visual Arts.  She comes from a business and marketing background with an MBA from the Georgia State University and  a GA and BA in Marketing Management from Shorter College Atlanta.  She also holds a degree in photography from the Washington School of Photography.



Sylvia has been working in a variety of art fields for 9 years locally and internationally, and has now amassed a wide range of skills. She has a passion for the arts and in the recent years, has managed to build good networks and relationships with the local artist community.  Sylvia also sits ​as Director ​on the Board of the Kenya Copyright Board ​(KECOBO) and the Second Chances Foundation (Cancer Awareness).​



 ​As Director,she has had the opportunity to build a long-term artistic vision for Kuona as well as help raise the level and quality of the local art scene. Sylvia has brought along a wide range of experience in leadership and management and​ has been of great value to Kuona. Her strong leadership qualities, combined with her organisational and excellent communicative skills provide a strong foundation that has been beneficial to the organization​


Her current role at Kuona Trust, directing the current programmes and developing ideas for new activities has also given her a good understanding of her role in the Kenyan art scene, while steering the organization to new heights.
