Alla Verlotsky was born in Kiev, Ukraine, studied and lived in Moscow, Russia. She moved to the United States in 1991.
She started her American career working as the freelance curator, in 1999 she created Seagull Films, New York based company that provides high quality programming and distribution for critically acclaimed art, independent and innovative international cinema, both classic and contemporary.

The company gained critical acclaim due to its creative and unconventional programming and distribution strategies through carefully curated thematic showcases and celebrated individual titles.

During over a decade of its intense work Ms. Verlotsky and her Seagull Films company has presented hundreds of titles at highly reputable art houses, cinematheques, film societies, museums, art centers and festivals. Company's circuit includes international film festivals as well as premiering North American and European venues such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York, Toronto Cinematheque, the National Gallery of Arts, Austrian and Danish Film Museums, Harvard Films Archive among many others.

Ms. Verlotsky curatorial originality and accomplishments have won accolades from press world wide including TIME OUT NEW YORK who praised her "uncommonly bold blend of curatorial adventurousness and cultural excavation".

Besides programming and distribution, Seagull Films provides services assisting independant filmmakers / producers with film festivals placement world wide as well as marketing and niche distribution. Even in the changing distribution landscape, Seagull Films has a strong dedication to preserving artist's works through restoration and has shown a commitment to showcasing films on a big screen.

In addition to her work at Seagull Films Ms. Verlotsky was a curator of the NY Jewish Film Festival, NY Jewish Sephardic Film Festival.

Ms. Verlotsky was an associate producer for " Russian Ark ", the award-winning film by internationally acclaimed director Alexander Sokurov and is currently producing a feature documentary "Red Fantasies" by the Academy Award Winning Special Effects Artists Robert Skotak.

Ms. Verlotsky holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Moscow State University, and a bachelor's degree in Central Asian and African film study from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography, VGIK.

She is fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, English and French with the dictionary.

She is artistic Director at Colors of the Nile IFF - CNIFF (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia).
