Short screenplay contest launched in Cote d'Ivoire
The Association of Young Filmmakers of Côte d'Ivoire (AJTEC-CI) has launched this Saturday, December 17 in Abidjan, the first edition of its screenplay contest.
The competition called "AJTEC-CI's Short Screenplay Contest" is intended to help improve the quality of Ivorian scripts and to reveal local young talent.
The authors of the three best projects will participate in two rewriting and film directing workshops, supported by the Dutch Hubert Bals Fund, linked to the International Film Festival of Rotterdam.
"This is an exceptional opportunity that will allow participants to work in a very professional way and have their works exhibited at an international level," said Honoré Essoh, President of the AJTEC-CI.
Participation in the competition which is free is open until January 17, 2012 at midnight.
The jury is made up of screenwriters, directors and producers of Côte d'Ivoire, France and Australia.
The AJTEC-CI and its partners will support the production of the three best films and their broadcasting at festivals and on televisions.
Created on November 13, 2010 the AJTEC-CI is an association of young directors, cameramen, editors, screenwriters and other filmmakers. Its main objectives are to train its members and help to revitalize the film and television sectors in Côte d'Ivoire.
The AJTEC-CI held on August 27 a film screening followed by a debate and on September 17 a scriptwriting workshop by videoconference with Franco-Ivorian director Philippe Lacôte.
