In San Francisco, filmmaker Sephora Woldu tells her sceptical mother of her desire to shoot a film about the Eritrean diaspora. In doing so, she examines how people in the diaspora can contribute to their culture of origin while also playing an integral role of the culture they live in. The young director uses diverse film genres - from documentary to thriller and musical - to bring her project to fruition, telling the story of Haile, a taxi driver with Eritrean heritage. Haile, who only recently moved to San Francisco, suffers from hallucinations that bring his suppressed memories back to life. In her first full-length film LIFE IS FARE, Sephora Woldu explores diaspora identities, while simultaneously showcasing Eritrea's diversity.
