This film gives an overview of this district of the Algerian capital, the Kasbah of Algiers, which was listed as a World Heritage Site at the 16th session of the UNESCO Committee in December 1992. The Kasbah has 1,700 houses and about 80,000 inhabitants. Originally, the word "kasbah" referred to the citadel which, in the west, overlooked the city. Little by little the term included the city itself. The walls that protected the kasbah as well as the top and the bottom of the city have disappeared today... But in what state is the kasbah today? How does it resist the natural disasters that regularly overwhelm Algeria, located on a fragile geological fault? Today two associations are trying to save the Kasbah, despite the weakness of the aid granted and the political disinterest: "Save the Kasbah" and "Association Casbah". How does the man in the street experience this? This film invites us to surf between past and present, between memory and nostalgia. Through its inhabitants and the people active in the restoration of this historical heart, we enter this labyrinth of steep alleys ...
