بضواحي مدينة منجمية، يسعى الشاب عبدو إلى تعلم القراءة والكتابة. لكن امباركة، أمه بالتبني ومداوية الحي، تمنعه من ذلك. ينجح عبدو في إقناع شعيبة، وهو نشال في الثلاثين من العمر، بزيارة امباركة لعلاج مرضه الجلدي الذي يعاني منه. منذ ذلك الحين، سيربط القدر بين مصائر هذه الشخصيات الثلاثة...
