JIMMY OWENS,an americain jazzman and wellknow trumpet player, arrives in Gorée, an island off the coast of Dakar. He settles down in the famous "House of Slaves".One evening, the sound of the trumpet rises At the order end of the island, an old fisherman and his grandson listen to it. the tune of Louis Armstrong's "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen", played on the trumpet by the musician, puts the old man into a state of violent confusion : he tells his story to the young boy.With the help of the inhabitants of Gorée, the child and his friends are going to try and cure the old fisherman who is under the spell of Mame Coumba, the protecting spirit of the island."GOREE, ISLAND OF THE GRANDFATHER" is a musical tale, the story of a passion.
