In 1967, Odumegwu Ojukwu declared the independence of the state of Biafra from Nigeria, starting the first large-scale, post-colonial conflict on African soil.
São Tomé and Príncipe, at the time a Portuguese colony, marked for centuries by slavery and forced labor, is close to the Biafra region by air. Its geographical position will be decisive in the course of the war. 50 years later, a ghost searches the memory of the victims of this event.

EQUATORIAL CONSTELLATIONS (CONSTELAÇÕES DO EQUADOR) raises a bridge first traversed 50 years ago: the Biafra-Sao Tomé Airlift of 1968-1970. Child refugees of the Biafra War are enlivened in the passports left together with and Joint Church Aid missionaries in archival footage in a story remembered through the eyes of modern San Tomean participants of this unprecedented civilian relief effort, now considered as inaugural of modern humanitarian aid.

30 Maio de 1967. O tenente-coronel Odumegwu Ojukwu declara unilateralmente a independência do estado secessionista do Biafra, sobre o restante território da Nigéria. O governo federal presidido por Yakubu Gowon comanda uma ofensiva militar para recuperar a região. As hostilidades entre as duas partes irão dar inicio a um dos primeiros conflitos pós-coloniais em solo Africano.

São Tomé e Príncipe, na época uma colónia portuguesa, marcada durante séculos pela escravatura e trabalho forçado, encontra-se próxima da região do Biafra por via aérea. A sua posição geográfica será determinante no decorrer da guerra. 50 anos depois, um fantasma procura vestígios na memória das vítimas desse acontecimento.

São Tomé e Príncipe, enquanto colónia portuguesa em 1968, marcada durante séculos pela escravatura e trabalho forçado, encontra-se próxima da Nigéria por via aérea. Uma posição geográfica que será determinante no decorrer da guerra de secessão do Biafra que sentenciou centenas de milhares de crianças à fome. Muitas das que se salvaram foir através da Ponte Aérea Sao Tomé-Biafra, a sua memória é revisitada neste filme 50 anos depois.
