Nacido en 1928 en la Martinica, Edouard Glissant es el autor de numerosos libros de poemas, pero también de ensayos, piezas de teatro y novelas. Su obra cultiva así la profusión y el secreto. De lo que constituye al hombre dentro de este "hombre-libro", sólo ha de revelar una anécdota, un recuerdo de infancia cuando un día cayó al mar, durante un pequeño naufragio en la Baie du Marin.



Born in 1928 in Martinique, Édouard Glissant produced numerous collections of poetry, as well as essays, plays, and novels. His oeuvre is characterised by both profusion and secrecy. He delivers just one anecdote which gives us a glimpse into what events made the "man" in this veritable "man-book" : a childhood memory of falling from a boat during a minor mishap in Sailor's Bay.
