This film is a denunciation of corruption and a plea for its eradication within communities and nations. Adétutu, a young university lady is given the heavy responsibility of "calabash carrier" in her community annual festival. A traditional and annual rite of sacrifice and procession towards the river in the objective to condemn evil deeds and corruption … and the purification of society.

Vor dem Hintergrund der korrupten Herrschaft von König Kabiyesi sucht das Volk für sein traditionelles Osun Osogbo-Fest eine junge Frau, die als Arugba die Prozession zum Fluss anführen soll. Adetutu, neben ihrem Studium eine erfolgreiche Sängerin, kommt in die engere Wahl. Als konkrete Belege von Korruption eines Beraters des Königs offensichtlich werden, begehrt das Volk auf.
