Alapo Iyo, the revenant, leaves the world of the dead for the world of the living. The law of the ancestors is not respected anymore in the village. The villagers are more than ever plagued by famine and diseases. The zealous Otoun is designated to bring the old rites and ancestral traditions back to the villagers' lives. A dozen of teenagers have to suffer from privation and bad treatments, as part of initiatory rituals. But the wives and mothers rebel against these traditional practices : this is known as the "love strike". The husbands react.
