Opening of the exhibition ""Portraits of Reconciliation" on Monday, the 30th of March at 6pm!
From Monday 30th of March to Friday 3rd of April the Goethe-Institut Kigali will present "Portraits of Reconciliation", a photography exhibition by the Dutch arts organisation Creative Court. The project features reflections on forgiveness after genocide, by two uniquely distinct photographers, Pieter Hugo and Lana Mesić. After being exhibited in The Hague, New York, and Tokyo over the past year, photographs from the project have arrived in Rwanda, first appearing at the Goethe-Institut, to further develop conversations on the meaning of forgiveness.
The people who agreed to be photographed are part of a continuing national effort toward reconciliation and worked closely with AMI (Association Modeste et Innocent), a Nonprofit Organization.
"Portraits of Reconciliation" is made possible with support from the Mondrian Fund and the Fund for Democracy and Media (Amsterdam, The Netherlands); and was developed by Creative Court in collaboration with Het Nutshuis (The Hague, The Netherlands), AMI (Butare, Rwanda), and Karekezi Film Productions (Kigali, Rwanda).
