King Naki once rode the greatest racehorse in the whole of the Transkei region. Like his father, he worked as a stable hand in the city, but, driven by bigger dreams, he quit the stable and spent all his savings on a horse which he named "Thula Sibone" - Wait and See. His dream of winning the coveted annual Amateur Championships is shattered, when, just one month before the championships, Thula Sibone suffers a massive heart attack mid-race, sending its rider, Naki, crashing to earth. King Naki awakes in hospital with a broken shoulder blade, to hear of Thula's demise and the subsequent meal made of his remains. He fi nds himself at the National championships, losing on a borrowed horse, and handing the trophy to his greatest adversaries.
Following Naki from race to race, over three years, the film tells the story of a man's unyielding determination in the face of failure. Against the odds, Naki keeps believing that maybe, just maybe, he can win that next horse race.
