Julie is an artist, writer, and curator (First People's Art & Culture) at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Her art and research uncovers and re-presents concealed and conflicting histories. Her (Briggs-Johnson-Gower) family have lived in the Latrobe region of Lutruwita/Tasmania, with Tebrikunna their traditional country, since the 1840s. Gough holds a PhD (University of Tasmania, Visual Arts, 2001), Masters (Visual Arts, Goldsmiths College, London, 1998) and Bachelor degrees: Visual Arts (Curtin University) and Prehistory/English literature (University of West Australia).
