1967? By the time David Bowie is releasing his first album, Amadou comes into the world in the heart of green Casamance.

The Fula Child should have followed his destiny: becoming a marabout and perpetuating the heritage of his lineage.

First introduced to religious Sufi songs at the age of five, he discovers his vocation: music will be his way.

He pursues this way until Morocco: attending the conservatoire, the artist puts his hands on Arab Andalusian singing and perfects his vocal technique.

Always hungry for mix of cultures, he decides to pursue his search in France, where he arrives in 1989: there he comes into regular contacts with Bordeaux's rock community, and establish his first artistic relationships. His experimental approach drives him to take a jazz master class.

It's time of first group, first album, first tours?

From that time on, his way will never stop crossing parallel universes: French traditional music with les Manufactures Verbales, electronic music with commercial success of Pills, Jazz and his collaboration with Steve McCraven?

Enriched by all these meetings and collaborations, Amadou has built step by step his songbook, adding subtly every influence; the result is a unique music, HIS music: an intimate fusion of Fula tradition, Sufi inspiration and jazz/rock influences.

And it's on stage that this fusion finds its quintessence: Amadou literally embodies his music, bewitching the audience with his warm voice, electrifying dances and unusual outfit.

Neither griot, nor spokesperson of a tradition, Amadou is the inspired creator of a mixed music that you can find in his last album "Loumbara".

Having reached certain maturity, he's not stopping creating: his head full of new songs promises us many other musical trips?

Amadou Balde is also the initiator of the festival "Les 72 Heures du Fouladou" (Kolda, Sénégal)
