Joe Makeni is a photographer based in Nairobi Kenya. He began taking pictures in 2006 as a hobby while studying Civil Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. He practiced Structural engineering for one year, after graduating, but even though he loved it he realized that photography was his true passion. So in September of 2011 he resigned and went full time into photography.

He specializes in shooting Weddings, Interiors, Commercial and Editorial photographs but loves to shoot fashion the most, he also enjoys nature photography and refers to himself as a nature tourist.

"I play with light. I like my shadows and my highlights to communicate what my images are about. It has to be as I see it in my mind. Light detail is what I'm all about."

He is a photographer at One Touch Media Kenya and the founder, director and photographer of Frontlite Photography. He says he would like to see the photography industry in Kenya driven by quality and not just experience where jobs are awarded based on portfolio and not gear as it is now.
