Ugochukwu Azuya (Ugo for short), is a filmmaker (writer-director) working and living in Lagos, Nigeria. Through the manner of his entry into his practice, film and film history have always been a real fascination for him and one of his main aspirations as filmmaker is to be able to contribute to film history and the cinematic canon. In his work, he deals with memory, sexuality, socio-political situations, history and the family structure and dynamics within the Nigerian and African Context. Ugochukwu's artistic motivations are driven by always trying to experiment with film form and story as well being radical in theme, subject and the images he creates. Ugo's other practices also lie within photography, video art and experimental film.
