The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Ashkal Alwan, is a non-profit arts organization based in Beirut, Lebanon. We aim to initiate and promote critical artistic practices; and to document and build an archival record of contemporary intellectual and creative activity.

We aim to initiate and promote critical artistic practices; and to document and build an archival record of contemporary intellectual and creative activity.

Since our launch in 1994, our activities have included a wide range of projects, from exhibitions, videos, lectures, performances and publications, to working in public spaces, creating networks and partnerships for reflection, dialogue and exchange.



WHAT WE DO
* Organize projects that generate understanding around cultural practices and theories.
* Support cultural practitioners to explore new approaches to their work.
* Provide opportunities for artists to further their careers.
* Build relationships with cultural institutions throughout the world.
* Compile and develop an archive of contemporary art.
* Organize every year and a half a multidisciplinary cultural event, "Home Works: A Forum on Cultural Practices"
* Publish Arabic-English books
* Publish an e-newsletter on the 1st of every month with information on exhibitions, conferences, events, calls for submission, courses in the field of contemporary art, and funding opportunities
