Organised by the African Cultural Agency (ACA) and supported this year by Senegal, which holds the current presidency of the African Union, the platform for professionals from the continent and its diasporas is taking up residence at the heart of the Cannes Film Market. For the 4th consecutive year, African cinema will be at the World Film Meeting from 17 to 28 May 2022.
Acting for the development of the film industry in Africa
This year, the exchanges and debates will allow for further reflection on "Strategic models for the development and growth of the film and audiovisual industry in Africa" as presented in the latest UNESCO report on the film industry in Africa, in the presence of key players in the sector and delegations from the continent.
Supporting and training young talent
The Agence Culturelle Africaine is also offering the opportunity to 8 young directors from Africa and its diaspora, selected through its "Talented Cameras of Africa" Programme, in partnership with the continent's biggest festivals (FESPACO, Durban, Carthage, Dakar Court, Clap Ivoire and RCF Madagascar) to present their projects and take part in the wide range of professional meetings and masterclasses organised in our space. They will also participate in the Short Film Corner programme as well as in the activities organised by the Semaine de la Critique, the Directors' Fortnight, ACID and the City of Cannes, in the framework of a partnership with our platform.
