Internationally acclaimed choral group Chitungwiza Harmony Singers came third at the Old Mutual Choir Festival that was held in South Africa over the weekend. The group walked away with R7 200 and a trophy in a competition that saw two South African choral groups leading the competition.
Peter Thole, the group marketing and communications manager, said they were humbled by the recent development.
"It was an exciting event and for us to emerge third position was quite inspiring. In any competition we always accept the outcome as it gives us room to improve," he said.
Thole said they leant a lot from the other 12 groups that participated in the competition.
"We have managed to get lessons from all the groups that performed in the competition and hopefully in the next edition of the festival we will beat them," he said.
Chitungwiza Harmony Singers was formed in 1993 and since then the group has become one of the best acappella ensembles in the country.
For several years, they competed in the Old Mutual Regional Choir Championships in South Africa which draws the very best choirs from all over Southern Africa.
