The worship of the Mami religion is based on the adoration of the water queen called mamiwater or apouket, according to each ethnic group of the Gulf of Guinea. It has a hierarchical specific organization which gives to the priests and priestesses an important place in the sociocultural life of the practicing population, with a pantheon of different goddesses.
