Experimental film on misery.
Extension "4" is a lucid and scintillating display of the negative concept on the acquisition of wealth. It duels on a short story of a young girl - Filo, in a small neighbourhood in Yaounde - Melen - Cameroon, who journeys us into a new form of life from grace to grace. She deals with the trafficking of human parts by cutting people's penises both physically and mystically and is hunted by the forces of law and order. Coincidentally, a simple inhabitant in the neighbourhood beats her to death and changes the channel of arrest as the police instead set out to arrest but the young inhabitant, for jungle justice.
It is a technically unconventional film as it follows strictly, the norms of an experimental film. The entire narrative technique of the film is guided by jump cuts and an incongruous use of plot. Though the film cuts across some of Quintin Terantino's use of very grungy techniscope close ups, it is philosophically arranged with a deliberate attempt to introduce a new form of screen language with the breakdown of the angle 180 degree. It also hooks on symbolism with an anthropological use of stools to divert the screen craft at some moments, in order to create an illusion of dissociation.
